Who we are.
Casual Atmosphere. Serious Faith.
Our goal at Berkley Chapel is to be a church that is down-to-earth, genuine, and nonjudgemental.
Our Purpose

At Berkley Chapel we teach verse-by-verse through the Bible.
Our Teaching
This is called “expositional teaching”. We seek to understand and explain the original meaning of scripture so we can better understand what it means to our lives today.
Expositional teaching is the only kind of teaching that opens up the entire Bible in a clear, authoritative way so the truth of God’s Word can transform our lives and renew our minds. So, instead of trying to bring the Bible into modern times, we seek to take people back into Biblical history and allow the Bible to come alive. This is the heart of Biblical exposition.
Our Values
We are down-to-earth.
We are genuine.
We are non-judgemental.
We are casual.
We are connected.
We explain the Bible.
We exist to help people find and follow Jesus.
Pastor John Nix
My identity is anchored in Christ—crucified with Him, yet alive through Him (Galatians 2:20). My wife Allison and I have been married for over thirty years, and outside of my salvation, she's been my greatest gift in ministry and life. Our three children, Sarah, Sydney, and Simeon, love Jesus, and watching them grow in faith has been one of our greatest joys. Our home is a place where questions are welcomed, laughter is frequent, and reminders about rest come from our Yorkie, Millie, who has never once felt guilty about taking a perfectly timed nap.
Growing up in a pastor's home, I watched my father model faithful ministry while my grandmother spent countless hours teaching me Scripture with the patience only grandmothers possess. At sixteen, God's calling to ministry arrived with all the subtlety of a freight train. Clear, unmistakable, life-altering.
Through three decades of pastoral ministry, I've learned that authentic transformation happens not in polished programs but in the messy, beautiful work of walking alongside people through every season. I'm called to preach God's Word with clarity, develop leaders who can shepherd others, and create communities where families flourish in grace.
More than strategy or systems, I long to see lives genuinely transformed by the gospel's power. I'd love to buy you coffee and hear your story, whether you're visiting Berkley Chapel for the first time or have been here for years (theology talk completely optional).
